My Other Child

No I have not forgotten that I have a daughter as well.  I realize that she hasn't been on the blog much, so I thought I should do a update on her now that she is two and half.  Addie is at such a fun age I can hardly stand it.  She is my little buddy and we have so much fun together.  She is so smart and never ceases to amaze me with what she understands and how well she communicates.  I am blown away at the things she says and picks up on.  She is so full of life and imagination and I absolutely love watching her explore and get so excited about anything and everything.  Here are a bunch of pictures of Addie and things we have been up to the past couple of months.

Addie surprisingly still plays with all of her toys from Christmas.  She loves her princess castle and her pillow racer ride-on toy.
Loves dressing up like a princess with all her jewelry.
A few months back we finally made the switch from her crib to a toddler bed.  I realize she was in a crib a lot longer than other kids her age, but she never climbed out once and slept so great that we were in no rush.  She has loved her big girl bed and sleeps great in it.  She has never come out of her room once and still waits in her bed for us to get her up, which is definitely nice.

Addie loves the snow and had a blast helping me shovel after the really big storm.  She thought it was the perfect opportunity to get all her summer toys out.  I told her she couldn't use her sidewalk chalk!  She was oh so helpful with her sand shovel and bucket though!
First time riding front-runner, she loved it!
She is obsessed with eating snow and icicles.  We have had a ton hanging on our porch and everyday she would point out the one she wanted and beg me to get her one.  Occasionally I would oblige.
She had a blast at Kangaroo Zoo.  Now if only she can get over her fear of the big slides.
Getting her dance on with Crystal.  These two have a lot of fun together and Addie adores her.

We hit up Discovery Gateway with some friends a few weeks back and we had so much fun.
Our future news anchor
 Valentine's day lunch!

Her latest obsession has been Doc McStuffins.  She was using random household objects and toys to give her animals check-ups so imagine her excitement when she got her very own doctor kit from Nana for Valentine's Day.  If you come over expect a check-up from Addie.  She loves to do check-ups just like Doc does on the show and even brought her bag to Logan's Dr appointments and would pull out the stethoscope at the same time as the Dr.  She is so dang funny.

Speaking of gifts, my parents went to Disney World last month and brought Addie home her very own Rapunzel hair.  She was beyond excited and now is even more eager for hair of her own.  We aren't getting our hopes up anytime soon though.  It was so funny to see her with hair, she will look so different when the day comes!

Addie has officially given up her naps.  Although I wish she would still nap, she is really good and still spends a good hour or two in her room playing so I get a little break.  Usually her room looks like the above picture when she is done playing though.  This was a rare occasion where she actually tired herself out and fell asleep.  It sure is nice putting her to bed at 7:30 now!
Addie also had her first trip to the dentist a few days ago and did amazing.  She climbed right up on the chair and laid there watching TV with her mouth wide open and cooperated completely.  The dentist could not believe how well behaved she was and said usually kids her age have to be restrained in their parents arms just to get a peek in their mouth.  She just loves that kind of thing though, she is the same way with going to the doctor and asks to go! No idea where that came from.
Addie really is such a good well-behaved kid.  She is so sweet to other kids her age and loves her little friends in nursery.  She has never hit or been aggressive with anyone.  She is very obedient and a great helper with Logan.  She wants so much to be a big girl and go on the potty, but after three failed attempts at training her I resigned that she is just not capable of holding it quite yet.  She knows she can't go to preschool until she is potty trained so hopefully it will click in the next few months so she can go!  It has definitely been a struggle in our house and I can't wait until she is fully trained.

These last couple of pictures just sum up Addie's enthusiasm for life.  It is absolutely contagious.  She gets so excited about the littlest thing and does not lack expression when it comes to how she feels.  I feel so lucky being able to see the world through her eyes every day and feed off of her love for everything!  Can't believe she will be 3 in just a few months.

10 Months

Logan had a pretty rough past month.  He couldn't seem to be healthy and happy.  He unfortunately ended up with bronchiolitis, again!  Apparently once they have had it they are really susceptible to getting it for the following year whenever they get sick...awesome!  This time was much worse than the first one a few months back.  He was really struggling to breath and had a horrible cough and was extremely stuffy and congested.  We were doing round the clock breathing treatments and rented a BBG machine (a crazy strong snot sucking machine, not fun) and finally, after what seemed like forever he was healthy again, or so I thought.  The following week he didn't seem sick, but was pretty much screaming non stop for a week, unless he had Tylenol.  At first I thought it was just teething, but then I realized it had to be something more that was causing him to be so miserable so I took him in and turns out his ear drum ruptured.  Pretty much felt like the worst mom ever for letting it go on all week untreated.  No wonder he was so miserable, that sounds so painful.  10 days of antibiotics and ear drops later he is finally back to his happy self.  With all his sickness he did however regress a little with working on standing, rolling, crawling etc.  I was pretty discouraged about it, but he is getting there slowly but surely.  He is definitely teaching me patience!
This was at his doctor appointment where we found out about the burst ear drum.  Such a sad, miserable face.
He was still feeling miserable on Valentine's day, but he managed to have a little fun at lunch reading his menu!  Pretty sure he wanted one of everything, this boy can eat!
This was his Valentine's outfit.  My own little Dr. Love.  Cutest onesie ever!

We have discovered that Logan really loves Addie's princess castle and princesses.  The poor kid doesn't have much to choose from that isn't super girly so we can't really blame him, good thing he has a birthday coming up.  It seems to be the only thing that will motivate him to roll over.  He seems partial to Sleeping Beauty!  This past month he has finally rolled from his back to his belly several times, so we know he is capable of doing it, he just has no desire to.
He has gotten a lot more defiant about what he wants to do and gets mad when he doesn't get his way or something gets taken away from him.  He is really great at the whole throwing his head back in rage thing! We are working with Addie on sharing, but as of late she thinks that anything that Logan grabs she needs to take away from him.  Logan has continued to have a physical therapist from early intervention come once a month to work with him and help build his strength and we joined a yoga tots class that they put on for moms and their kids that has been a lot of fun for both of us!
It is no surprise that Logan loves to eat.  I am starting to worry that we will not be able to keep up with him.  Pretty sure he already eats more than Addie.  He is okay at breakfast and lunch, but when it comes to dinner he can't seem to get enough to eat and gets absolutely hysterical when he finishes off his baby food.  Lately he has been eating a tub of baby food, followed by snacks or pieces of bread or something he can occupy himself with until our dinner is done, and then he wants all of what we are eating too.  I get no time to myself to enjoy my meals anymore.  But I do love what a great eater he is.  Addie was already so picky at his age, so I am thoroughly enjoying feeding him table food and not having to accommodate a picky eater, we still fight Addie every night at dinner.  He is a champ at feeding himself and holds his bottle too, which is nice for me!

Logan has discovered that he loves to bang things together, two things in his two hands or just one thing against the floor, wall, etc.  He doesn't care but loves the noise and the control he has over making it.  He also is obsessed with his feet.  He discovered them long ago, but just recently he has really taken to sucking on them, playing with his socks, and just being completely entertained by them, it is pretty funny.  He graduated to a big boy car seat and it was long overdue.  He was way too big for the infant carrier.  He looks so funny and small in the big car seat though.  Can't wait to flip him around so he can enjoy being in the car more.  He is such a momma's boy and has started doing this thing where if I am holding him and someone comes up and talks to him, he will quickly smile and then bury his head in my shoulder all shy and bashful like.  My heart melts a little each time!  He is the sweetest, most chill little guy you will ever meet and we just love him to pieces.
