pOsT oVRloAd!!

so i am finally catching up on the events of summer. as i mentioned previously me and phi recently celebrated our two year anniversary. our anniversary fell on memorial day this year which made it fun because we both had the day off from work and we got to celebrate on a long weekend. phi made me a nice breakfast that morning and we kind of bummed around logan running errand and things until dinner. for dinner we made the drive to salt lake to go to my fav restraunt...the melting pot. if you have not been her you must go. it is heaven on earth. the whole meal is fondue minus the salad which is the lamo part of the dinner. it is such a fun place to go and really more of an event than anything. who would have thought cooking food would be entertainment. for those of you who have never been there are four courses: cheese fondue, salad, entree of various meats fondue, and chocolate fondue. can you say a lot of food! the cheese was supurb we had some fiesta blend and it was yummy. then we had the salads and by this point i was getting full so i decided to not waste the remainder of stomach room on the salad. then came the platter of deluctable perfectly cut meats. you can see in the picture below. you just pick your poison and drop it in the pot of incredible broth. it takes like two minutes to cook and never gets overcooked. wow it was amazing. and then of course you have to have the chocolate. just look at the plate of goodies that we dipped into our flaming turtle fondue that was flambeed at our tableside. this place rocks! we had a great anniversary and look forward to many more!
smiling...despite the bill we just got!
the endless choices of meat. seriously there is two kinds of beef, chicken, pork tenderloin, ravioli, lobster, and shrimp with tons of differenct things to dip them in

strawberries, bannanas, brownies, angel food cake, oreo crum covered marshmellows, rice krispies and some cheesecake. you could say i was in heave and that i probably shouldn't eat again for a week!

A couple weeks ago we went to Kansas City Missouri. You might be asking yourself why would they want to go to "misery" what could possibly there. The answer is not much! Nephi was born in Missouri and his grandparents and all his aunts and uncles live there. My father-in-law was going out there to visit his family and Nephi thought it was a good opportunity for us to go since he had not seen his grandparents in a very long time. I decided to take the supportive wife role, even though I could have thought of a million other places I would rather buy plane tickets too and celebrate my graduation! Overall it was a lot of fun, just got real bored towards the end because his grandparents didn't get out much and we didn't have a car. One thing I loved about Missouri was how green it was. I couldn't get over all the trees and green everywhere, but that is about the only thing it has on Utah. I don't know how anyone could find their way around in a state with no mountains, I know i couldn't. Here are some of the things that we did:
1. definitely the highlight of my trip...i got to see my bro kevies on his mission. i know right!? i was stoked to see him and i am not gonna lie a little nervous. of course my fam was way jealous. we got to take him and his companion(s) yes he has two for the time being, out to lunch at applebees. kevies is such a stud and an awesome, focused missionary.how precious!

it was weird to see him looking kinda geeky which is to be expected but it was still funny!

kevies with his companions

2. went to liberty jail in independence. this was so sweet and i felt the spirit so strong. it was overwhelming to hear what they went through and know i was standing where they had endured such hardship. i am amazed by their faith

3. went to the church's visitors center and across the street to the community of christ temple

Nephi sitting in a typical pioneer home, everything seemed so real

community of christ temple-this was the coolest/creepiest/weirdest building i have ever been in. they use to be the RLDS so we thought it would be at least similar to our church but not at all. they have completely lost any resemblance to our church. there were pictures in there of women giving priesthood blessings and being apostles of their church. weird stuff...but interesting!

4. Seeing the sights in Kansas City: WW1 Museum, Negro League Baseball Museum, Kansas City skyline, and a Royals baseball game
we went to this crazy underground war museum with more world war 1 stuff than i thought possible. it was cool but would have been enjoyed more by a history buff unlike me. below is a picture of the huge memorial they have there. phi took an elevator ride to the top but of course that did not appeal to me at all!
we also went to the negro league baseball museum which was pretty cool. i wish my dad could have been there he would have been in heaven

Nephi's work puts together a softball league every year and we always look forward to it. Nephi loves to play and gets way into it and I love to watch him play and socialize with the other wives who watch. I kind of wish I had played this year, but when they get all competitive I am grateful I am not out there. They had their first game on Friday and barely managed a win. We ar excited for the rest of the season.

Nephi played different positions. Here he is doing a sweet job of pitching to our friend Stephanie. I wanted to get a pic of him wearing the way funny hitting helmet but when you are sitting behind the batter it is hard to get their pic!

As you can see we have already had a lot of fun this summer. The most exciting new is that we are moving on June 13th and we are super excited. We have lived in our current apartment for two years and have absolutely loved it and have so many memories here, but we are ready for a change and an upgrade. Our new place is much newer, bigger, has w & d hookups (yes I have lived for two years without them, hence the move), 1.5 bath instead of just one, covered parking, and a much bigger kitchen with room to have a table (currently our table is half on the kitchen tile half on the carpet, ghetto I kno) and just better. We are thrilled, but I am kind of overwhelmed with the prospect of moving. We have acquired a ton of stuff in our short two years of marriage! I will post pics of our new place once we get settled in! Hope everyone is having as much fun this summer as we are!

Life After Graduation!

When you graduate it is inevitable that people will ask if you if you have found a job and what you are doing with your life, I just wish I had something more exciting to say, like a great job or other big plans, but instead I have to say I have no idea and no job prospects. When planning for my future after college I didn't factor in the economy, dang economy. So I am still working at my student job at an elementary school through the end of the school year and will be unemployed in about a week and a half. I am kind of starting to freak out because I check for jobs everyday and have applied for some, but there is just crap right now to apply for. I want so badly to work as a social worker, but am facing the fact that it will probably not happen. I miss the days of summer when I could play all summer and didn't have to work...maybe I will just bring that back this summer! Other than the need for a job looming over my head I have really been enjoying my free time and summer. It is so nice being done with work at 3:30 and then having the rest of the day to do whatever I want! Here are some of the things that I have been doing:

  • Going to the gym everyday and loving it.
  • Working on my cooking skills. Since I got my kitchenaid I have been inspired to try new things and play with my toy. I have made bannana bread, pizza crust for pizzas, snowball cookies, and much else. Phi makes fun of me because I use it to mix french toast mix, but it is just so much fun. We have actually been eating real meals at home now that I don't have my internship at nights anymore. I really do love to cook when I have the time.
  • Spending more time with Phi
  • Looking for a new apartment..we are in the works and hope to be in a new place by mid June! I am so excited to have more space and washer/dryer hookups it has gone on too long not having them!
  • Going to Weddings and spending time with friends
  • Spending time with my fam
  • Going to Missouri. We got home a week ago from Kansas City. We went to visit Nephi's grandparents and some other family members. I will hopefully post about that and get some pictures up sometime this week. The highlight of that trip was that I got to see my bro Kevies on his mission. It was so great to meet up with him, it has been a year and a half since I had seen him, and it was so great to take him and his comp out to lunch.
  • Playing my wii. I like to buy the old school nintendo games like super mario brothers for the first nintendo and super nintendo...nothing compares to those!
  • Catching up on my Tv shows and watching season finales, and yes I bawled like a baby during Grey's Anatomy season finale I absolutely love that show.
  • I bought a bike! Nephi has had one for two years and I haven't had one so either he would ride it or I would ride his, but now I have one and taking bike rides together is the greatest thing ever! I want to ride my bike everyday.

All in all my summer has started off pretty great. I know that in time the right job will come along for me and it will all be fine. I will enjoy the time off while I can because I know it won't last long. I will try and post about my trip to Missouri soon.

The Day I Thought Would Never Come!!!

That's right... I am a COLLEGE GRAD!!!!! You can tell how excited I am about that. This is hands down the greatest accomplishment of my whole life and I am pretty proud of myself. It was not easy, but I am so grateful that I stuck with it and got the education that I will value for the rest of my life! The whole day was so fun...minus the rain and minus the fact that I had to walk in the rain for commencement. That part was not fun and I was quite upset that my hair was a mess for the remainder of graduation because of it, not to mention that I had severe hat hair. I straightened my hair that day why?! Anyway we got plenty of pictures, it felt like my wedding day all over again.

At commencement with some of my friends that I did my internship with. I miss you girls already!

Proud Mom

Proud Dad...who doesn't ever look happy in pics but I promise he was!

Walking in for graduation! My last time walking into the spectrum as a USU student...that doesn't mean I won't be going to all the Aggie games next year...Phi won't let me off the hook that easily! I was like the third to last row to go up and get my diploma so you can imagine how the suspense was building. It was quite a rush to get up there and have your name read and hear your loved ones and peers cheering for you... a moment I will never forget!

My camera was being stupid so the lighting is bad but this is me receiving my diploma a.k.a. diploma cover because you don't get your degree in the mail until eight weeks later after your final grades are in and they can determine that you fulfilled your requirments to graduate...sure hope I did

Walking down with my diploma. I was so relieved I did not trip...unfortunately somebody did I am just glad it wasn't me!

Partying it up at Hamilton's. Phi, my parents, Phi's parents, Crystal and my cousin Lindsey were all there to show support. I love you guys!

Phi bought me a cake and with a diploma and a cap on it...so cute! Then he tried to put my name on there...no so cute but it sure was yummy cake. Thanks everyone for celebrating with me! And a special thanks to my lovely parents who gave me this...

I have been wanting a red one forever! It might seem like a funny thing to get for a grad gift, but it was exactly what I wanted and I can't wait to start using it! It was a wonderful day and I am so glad that I made it to graduation. I am really enjoying all of my free time now, but desperately need a job!
