First Part of Summer 2014

We did a lot of fun things this summer so I am going to break up the posts a bit.  We kicked off our summer going to Northern California for a family reunion on my mom's side.  We have missed it every year because I was either pregnant or had just had a baby so we decided to make it out there this year.  We embarked on our first ever long road trip with the kids and it was awful.  On the way out there Logan slept for maybe 45 minutes and Addie slept for about 20 and on the way back Addie didn't sleep a wink, we drove for 10 hours in one day and she never once fell asleep.  That wouldn't have been so bad if she was content in the car but she most definitely is not.  She would ask every 15 minutes if we were there and beg for non-stop food and was miserable and made us miserable.  She also learned that if she wanted to get out of the car all she had to do was act like she really had to go to the bathroom.  Needless to say we visited a lot of nasty public restrooms along the way.  Once we go there we all had a great time.
We hit up the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, one of my favorite childhood pastimes and it was such a neat experience to see my kids experience the ocean for the first time.  Logan was obsessed and wanted to sit right down in the water and have the waves reach him.  Addie loved the sand and getting covered in it.  It was a good day.

We spent a day in San Francisco and checked out another favorite of mine, Pier 39.  The sea lions were a big hit with Addie and Logan and Addie loved looking through the binoculars.

Addie could have stayed at the bubbles all day
 Wiped out
I'm lame and didn't take any pictures at the family reunion, except these of Addie playing with her second cousin Sophie.  So cute that they thought they were really jump roping! It was great to see family though, it had been way too long!

As soon as we got back from California, Addie started up her first round of swimming lessons.  She had a lot of fun and did really great.
Becoming quite the artist.  Spitting image!
Logan had another MRI and the results came back pretty much the same but showed that his myeling had improved, so that was good.
Of course we had to go to as many  fairs as we could and both kids loved all the rides.

 City Creek wonder
We had a great 4th doing our usual Kaysville festivities and Logan was more entertaining than the fireworks.  He was so enamored with them and was shaking and bouncing up and down and clapping his hands the whole time.  It was fun to see how much he loved the fireworks.

Free slurpees and summer matinees with friends.
Nephi's work had a company Lagoon day and we had so much fun.  Thinking passes might be in our future! It was fun to see Addie get over some of her fears and go on all the big kid rides she was tall enough for.  By the end of the day she was a adrenaline junkie and couldn't be bothered with those kiddie rides!

We lost our main front yard tree in a killer wind storm and Addie thought it was her new fort or something.  We were sad to see it go and even more sad at the pain it was to remove.
Up next, Addie's birthday party!
